Our Story

About

A premium European travel journal for the discerning explorer. Slow stories, hidden corners, and the continental craft of doing things well.

Why we write

The internet has made Europe look like a checklist. Ten things to do in Rome. The Eiffel Tower in two hours. The “real” Barcelona in a single afternoon. We think this misses the point.

The Europe Blog is a quieter alternative. We publish slow, well-researched stories about the continent — the kind you read with coffee, the kind you save for the trip you haven’t quite booked yet. We favor the small over the famous, the lived-in over the photographed, the question “what is this place actually like?” over the question “what should I post about it?”

Our principles

  • We visit before we write. Every guide is grounded in time on the ground — usually weeks, sometimes years.
  • We cite sources. Statistics, history, and claims link out to the source so you can check them yourself.
  • We disclose. If a stay was hosted, we say so. If a brand sponsored, we say so. We don’t take payment for placement.
  • We update. Every guide carries a “last updated” stamp. When restaurants close or trains change, we revise.
  • We write for readers, not algorithms. We follow good SEO practices, but we don’t write filler to chase keywords.

How we’re funded

The Europe Blog is reader-supported. We earn a small commission when readers book hotels through some of our links — these are clearly marked. We occasionally accept sponsored content; when we do, it’s labeled and our editorial standards still apply.

Our editorial standards

We publish under a clear Editorial Policy that covers our research process, conflict-of-interest rules, AI use, and corrections process. If you spot an error or have a story tip, please get in touch — we read everything and aim to acknowledge corrections within 48 hours.

The author

The Europe Blog was founded by Tarek Riman, who has spent the past decade traveling, photographing, and writing about Europe. The journal publishes new editorial work regularly, alongside curated guides for readers planning their own trips.
