Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 2026

The Europe Blog (“we”, “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

  • When you subscribe to our newsletter: your email address.
  • When you leave a comment: your name, email, and IP address (used only for spam prevention; never published).
  • When you visit any page: we use Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled, which records aggregate, non-personal information about visits.
  • Cookies: minimal — only what’s required to remember whether you’ve dismissed our cookie banner and to keep you logged in if you have an account.

How we use it

  • To send you the newsletter you signed up for.
  • To moderate comments and prevent spam.
  • To understand which articles are most useful (in aggregate).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information. We do not use your data to retarget you with ads.

Your rights

If you’re in the EU/UK, you have the right under GDPR to access, correct, port, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@theeuropeblog.com and we’ll respond within 30 days.

Third parties

  • Newsletter provider: the email provider you’ve connected (Mailchimp / ConvertKit / etc.)
  • Analytics: Google Analytics (IP anonymized)
  • Comment spam: Akismet
  • Hosting: GoDaddy
  • Security: Wordfence

Each of these has their own privacy policy. We’ve selected providers committed to GDPR compliance.

Data retention

Newsletter subscribers’ email addresses are retained until they unsubscribe. Comment author data is retained while the comment remains published. Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default.

Children

The Europe Blog is intended for adult readers. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
