How to Make Paella – Spanish Rice
Paella is one of the staple dishes in Spanish cuisine. People in Spain flavor it with saffron, seafood, vegetables, and meats to make the rice taste delicious. Although this is a Spanish dish, it is famous throughout the Mediterranean. Here is the procedure to make Spanish rice. Read on!
Ingredients
- One tablespoon of olive oil
- One chopped onion
- One teaspoon of paprika and dried thyme
- 300 grams of paella or risotto rice
- Three tablespoons of white wine or dry sherry – optional
- 400 grams of chopped tomatoes with garlic
- 900 milliliters of chicken stock
- 400 grams of frozen seafood
- One lemon – half cut into wedges and half juiced
- A handful of parsley–chopped
Instructions
- Add olive oil to a large frying pan
- Now add the onion to the frying pan and heat for five minutes
- Add paprika, paella rice, and thyme
- Stir for at least one minute
- Add the sherry if using
- Stir in the chicken stock and chopped tomatoes
- Cook for 15-20 minutes
- Stir again until the rice is tender
- Stir in seafood mix and simmer for five minutes after covering with a lid
- Squeeze over the lemon juice and garnish with parsley
- Serve with lemon wedges
