Tarta De Santiago is a delicious Spanish almond cake and the most popular dessert in Spain, central and south America. The traditional Tarta de Santiago has ground almonds, eggs, and sugar. You will need the following ingredients for the cake

  • Two cups of ground almonds – raw and peeled
  • One or two cups of sugar
  • Five eggs
  • Lemon zest from half a lemon
  • One tablespoon of liquor
    • You can use almond or vanilla extract as substitutes
  • One teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Topping requires the following ingredients

  • Powdered sugar
  • Fresh fruits


  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit
  2. Use a food processor to pulse the almonds
  3. Beat the egg and sugar to create a pale and creamy mixture
  4. Add lemon zest, cinnamon, and liquor (almond or vanilla as alternatives)
  5. Grease a springform pan with butter
  6. Now pour in cake batter
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes to ensure the cake is golden brown
  8. Use a toothpick to test the cake
  9. Remove from oven and set aside to cool in the pan
  10. Transfer to the serving dish and decorate with powdered sugar

Note: Although you can use a small-sized springform dish, we recommend using a large-sized or 10-inch pie dish to avoid complications and optimize the process. Adjust the bake time if you are using lower quantities of ingredients.
